A Day Of Silence
Tuesday, June 26th, 2007I discovered, thanks to the wonderful Computer Music Magazine, that Pandora’s doors are still open to those in the UK. This is excellent news for everybody, as it is by far the finest music recommendation service that exists. Today, however, Pandora is silent. Why?
I’m sorry to say that today Pandora, along with most Internet radio sites, is going off the air in observance of a Day Of Silence. We are doing this to bring to your attention a disastrous turn of events that threatens the existence of Pandora and all of internet radio. We need your help.
Fees to keep Pandora airing will not only triple, but will retroactively triple for the past 18 months thanks to a bill currently before the US Congress. This would bankrupt even a strongly profitable company, something which Pandora is not.
If you live in the US, you can find your Congresspersons and their phone numbers by entering your zip code here. Also, no matter where you live, you can visit Save Net Radio and follow the fight.
P.S. Thanks to Wilson for some stylesheet edits.
