Work continues on polishing Evolution, hopefully to be finished soon – however, I wouldn’t expect it to be before March. That’s because FAWM is almost upon us once again! Yes, fourteen songs in twenty-eight days – but wait. This is a leap year! No problem, they say. Do us fourteen and a half.

Sadly, some bad news on the internet music front is that Pandora, the internet music recommendation service, has been forced to block UK IPs from the site – meaning that it is now a purely US site and is in danger of going under even there. To help fill the hole Pandora leaves, I humbly recommend SeeqPod – It crawls search engines and streams you the results. Perfect if you have a song you HAVE TO LISTEN TO RIGHT NOW.

A Day Of Silence

I discovered, thanks to the wonderful Computer Music Magazine, that Pandora’s doors are still open to those in the UK. This is excellent news for everybody, as it is by far the finest music recommendation service that exists. Today, however, Pandora is silent. Why?

I’m sorry to say that today Pandora, along with most Internet radio sites, is going off the air in observance of a Day Of Silence. We are doing this to bring to your attention a disastrous turn of events that threatens the existence of Pandora and all of internet radio. We need your help.

Fees to keep Pandora airing will not only triple, but will retroactively triple for the past 18 months thanks to a bill currently before the US Congress. This would bankrupt even a strongly profitable company, something which Pandora is not.

If you live in the US, you can find your Congresspersons and their phone numbers by entering your zip code here. Also, no matter where you live, you can visit Save Net Radio and follow the fight.

So. Farewell then, Pandora. Due to new internet radio licensing restrictions, the best recommendation station out there has had to end its service to anyone outside the US, even Canadians. This equates to a kind of ridiculous greediness on the part of the licensers, who have made it difficult for Pandora since the day it was opened. For the same reason you will note the BKWR page missing from my site now. I can’t afford licenses like that. Most people can’t.

First off, shout-out to Brian. Hi, Brian!

As you may have noticed, I’ve managed to uncover awful things about the music business with startling frequency recently. Well, there’s more. Steve Albini, legendary studiohand behind such acts as Pixies, has this to say about your friends who have just joined a label: This is how fucked they are.

Work is continuing apace on album #3, probably my most together and professional sounding yet. My aim is to have some kind of collaboration on every track. Anyone up for that? It’ll be a freebie, as per, and hopefully it’ll be appearing here in the next couple of months.

There was a technical error (Read: I screwed up) this week, so there’s no archive of the 13/04/07 show. You can, however, enjoy last week’s show for a week longer because of this! You lucky people.
