1. WERX
WERX is something of a labour of love. The earliest programming took place in 2004 and the final recordings were done in February 2006. In that time, NatchDan learned a great deal about the tools that he was using, and also himself and the sort of person he was. Namely, the sort of person that will swear a lot when a program crashes half an hour after your last save.
Taking in electronica, rock, pop and industrial aspects, with even a little stripped down back-to-basics acoustic and vocal, this is an album that attempts to run the gamut of his songwriting ability. Recorded mostly for fun (though with some tracks being thanks to February Album Writing Month), the length of time this album took is a testament to how things can turn out well if you just enjoy the experience.
The recording and production was all done on one PC in one bedroom, except for “Burning Bridges”, which was recorded in one take in the kitchen of a guy called Jon. thanks, Jon. Soundforge and Fruityloops are the tools of the trade, the former used for recording and the latter for programming, mixing and mastering.
